Inscribed 'Emanuel Phillips Fox - Giverny' on reverse
This famous Australian Impressionist artist toured Europe visiting Giverny and in 1890 settled in St Ives, Cornwall for a period, returning to Australia in 1892. He revisited St Ives in the early 1900s. This sketch is typical of 'en plein air' Impressionist painting and although we cannot be certain it is by this artist it is nonetheless an attractive period painting.
