Sketchbook, Charleston, 9 October 1983: 'Well into the routine of teaching & work now. This suits me well, and I have now finished 6 gouaches, and started one more complicated one from a drawing earlier in this book....This suffers from being too symmetrical. Can it be helped by a reversal?'
