The Mid-Day Studios was a privately run gallery located in a basement opposite Manchester Art Gallery on Mosley Street, which made a considerable difference to local artists like Crossley, and to the cultural life of Manchester for five years after the Second World War. The gallery hosted L S Lowry's first solo exhibition in 1949 and eventually closed in 1951.
