Copperplate engraving; 12.5 x 20 cms
A trustee of the Paul Nash Trust discovered the copper plate for this engaving by chance, dispelling former doubts on whether the artist produced copper engravings. The plate was clean and not worn, indicating that few impressions, if any, had been taken from it. The Trust decided to issue a limited edition of impressions in conjunction with Alexander Postan Publishing and the Tate Gallery in 1970, where a retrospective exhibition took place.
