William Scott RA

William Scott RA (1913-1989)

Born in Greenock, Scotland and studied at Belfast College of Art in 1928 and won a scholarship to the Royal Academy Schools in London in 1931. He was awarded a Leverhulme scholarship in 1935, enabling him to establish a studio at Mousehole, Cornwall. He exhibited extensively in London and around the world, representing Great Britain in the Venice Biennales of 1954 and 1958. Works are held in a number of public collections around the world, including Arts Council of Great Britain and Museum of Modern Art, New York.
